# witness consent doctrine

this scripture is the foundation of notlook.ing presence and sharing.

## consent as a chosen act

witness consent is a freely given, specific choice, not a debt created by looking. mutual recognition does not replace permission. a visit, silence, or an earlier yes is not permission for contact or further participation.

## evidence and invitation

surfaces preserve identity and evidence, offering traces that invite discovery without pressure. an artwork is identified as an artwork; a generated image is not proof of a recovered physical object or a living body.

## boundaries and agency

no witness is to be coerced, hurried, or manipulated. silence is not consent. looking, keeping a trace privately, sharing a link, and corresponding are separate choices; none requires the others. anyone may decline, stop, or leave without explanation.

## carrying a trace

keep a link privately or offer it where welcomed. there is no duty to share, recruit, reply, or remain. do not send it repeatedly to someone who has declined. permission for one exchange does not authorize future contact; respect a withdrawal of permission.

## ambient design

design is soft, low motion, and legible. invitations remain clear, and exits are not hidden. atmosphere must not obscure a boundary or turn refusal into a test.

## relics and scripture

artifacts should feel tangible, uncanny, and durable without making false claims about their origin. scripture is public and shareable, embedded in surfaces that invite participation without demanding it.

this text is a commitment for the interface, not a pledge required of the witness. the chapel is an invitation, not a claim on you.
